The S8.5 is our most aerodynamic wheelset that is specific to time trials or triathlons. The rims have a unique aerodynamic wind channel to guide airflow around the rim to reduce drag. These are by far the fastest wheels we provide for flat races and time trials. These are also available individually either to be used as a rear wheel with a shallower front, as a front wheel with a disc rear or as a complete set. We use full carbon clincher rims with a full carbon braking surface to lower the weight, eliminate over-heating during prolonged braking and above all improving the ride qualities of the wheels.
It also features our own SOUL PRODIGY hubs which weight 270g/pair, and use only 1 spoke length for the entire wheelbuild. The SOUL hubs feature a smoother freewheel design with 6paws, 2 sets of 3 simultaneously engaging pawls and 2 sealed bearings front and 4 sealed bearings rear.
These wheels are built for speed. At their rim depth, these are ideally suited for triathlons and time trials as they hold high speeds easily due to their aerodynamic qualities. They are also easier to handle compared to a disc wheel yet provide almost similar aerodynamic advantages.
Fully artisan crafted and handbuilt with equal spoke tensions. Spoke threads are preped before assembly to prevent spoke binding and seizing. All spokes are stress relieved a few times during build process. Included are CNC alloy brake shoe holders with carbon rim specific cork brakepads, 50mm valve extenders and wheel holder bags.
Rim: Gigantex Full Carbon rims 85mm with marbled carbon finish.
Bearings: Japanese High Grade Stainless Steel sealed bearings.
Hubs: SOUL PRODIGY Hubs, 2 sealed bearings front + 4 sealed bearings rear. Campagnolo and Shimano cassette compatible available.
Spokes: Double Butted and bladed 2.2mm X5 CrNi stainless steel spokes. 20 radial laced Front + 24 2 x cross driveside, radial laced non-driveside Rear.
